Unloading 17 More Loaded Questions for "Bible Christians" 2/17

Steve Ray has a list of more than 35 loaded Questions for "Bible Christians" (quotation marks his)(link to the whole list). I originally planned to respond to just 35 of them, but the series seems to have been of interest, so in this extension, I'm responding to three more numbered questions in his list, plus fourteen "bonus questions" that take the form "Where does the Bible say ... ." I'm trying to provide the answers in the same common format as the original series, for easy reference. This is number 2/17.

37) How does a Protestant know for sure what God thinks about moral issues such as abortion, masturbation, contraceptives, eugenics, euthanasia, etc.?

Simple Answer(s):

The Reformed believer searches the Scripture and is content with God's revelation of his moral law.

Important Qualification(s):

1) Scripture is able to thoroughly equip the man of God for every good work. That speaks to the sufficiency of Scripture to adequately address every moral issue that arises, from abortion to euthanasia.

2) A sufficient answer that adequately addresses the issue may not leave the believer 100% sure on every nuance of every question. However, the believer is content with the revelation he has been given and seeks to apply it to his life as best he can with prayer to God for wisdom.

The rash and bold sense I feel reading this question leads me to believe something else is going on within the one asking the question.

I do not sense a Shepherd's concern.

But for those who are so inclined to read the question and follow along with the responses, here's something I would add as an aid to any who might find their soul troubled because of the question:

1Co 6:8 But you yourselves wrong and defraud--even your own brothers!
1Co 6:9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,
1Co 6:10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
1Co 6:11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

The world I was born into and the world my sons were born into is so radically different and much worse. It is as though there is an ever increasing darkness shrouding any sense or sensibility of good and evil.

Take it to heart what the Apostle wrote there and I especially highlight verse 11:::>

1Co 6:11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

"Oh Lord, send your Spirit to cut through our communities and let your people be heard, seen and known that True Hope will rise in the heart of our communities and a sense of Righteousness and the sensibility that follows will follow! amen"
