The Door Was Shut, Rob Bell

Rob Bell (Love Wins, p. 66):
Could God say to someone truly humbled, broken, and desperate for reconciliation, "Sorry, too late"? Many have refused to accept the scenario in which somebody is pounding on the door, apologizing, repenting, and asking God to be let in, only to hear God say through the keyhole: "Door's locked. Sorry. If you had been here earlier, I could have done something. But now, it's too late."
Jesus Christ (Matthew 25:1-13):
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

And at midnight there was a cry made, "Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him."

Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, "Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out."

But the wise answered, saying, "Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves."

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, "Lord, Lord, open to us."

But he answered and said, "Verily I say unto you, I know you not."

Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
Am I saying that those in Hell will come "truly humbled, broken, and desperate for reconciliation" - no, I'm not saying that. I'm saying that when the door shuts, it's too late. So, since you don't know when Christ will return, or when you yourself will die, take hold of the kingdom of heaven now. Be prepared.

Bell's dream of an always-open heaven is nothing more than a delusion.

And an excellent delusion at that!

It frightens me that we have such a skilled orator articulate in fine form in these days speaking such delusional concepts and ideas about the Gift of Righteousness, Eternal Life.

However, as in the parable put forth, it is a parable that "likens" to the Real Thing, which, parenthetically, is handled by the Real God to Real Spiritually born again Children, not the delusional god Bell appeals to and draws our attention too!

As I noted these verses in another thread, I wish to note them again here because there is a clear division of concepts and ideas of the Kingdom we entering into through our own death leaving behind our human remains. Notice the word "destruction" used:

Php 3:14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Php 3:15 Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you.
Php 3:16 Only let us hold true to what we have attained.
Php 3:17 Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us.
Php 3:18 For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ.
Php 3:19 Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.
Php 3:20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
Php 3:21 who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

It seems Bell is being drawn away from the Spirit's Truth about the Cross of Christ turning and embracing the concerns of humanity when looking at this "truth" about Hell's fury, eternal damnation and judgment from the human point of view.

Let's pray for Rob Bell.

Same as Noah's flood, and the rich man begging Abraham to allow Lazarus to go and warn his brothers.

No second chances, no do-overs, no mulligans.

Sorry Romanists, Mormons, and Rob Bell.

In Christ,

Good point.
Bell's words are telling.
Yet, he will surely have a smooth way to explain his words if you challange Rob to consider such and such.
He's like McLaren.

I remember hearing Ravi Zacharias say that Brian McLaren drove him nuts, because he woudn't simpl discuss the truth.

Bell's a humanist. He has a different Gospel. You think he would consider this, since the Bible tells us of the danger and having a different Gospel, or I should say a twitsed gospel.

He is very unskilled in the Scriptures. He seems to not really care about the Word of God.
Of course he will say he does.

I also thought of Abrahma asking his Lord not to destroy Sodom. God would have relented, if....
